Sponsor & Affiliate Disclosure

How sponsors and affiliate links work here, and what they never get to touch.

  • Paid content is labeled
  • Sponsors don’t control coverage
  • No student-athletes in sponsor ads

Effective date: October 21, 2026.

Gridiron Gumbo (gridirongumbo.com and the Gumbo app at gridirongumbo.com/app/) is published by Black Pot Media LLC (“we,” “us”). We keep the lights on with help from local sponsors. Here is how that works, in line with the Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines.

Sponsored content is labeled

Any paid placement, including scoreboard sponsors, the Friday Night Gumbo presenting sponsor, Game of the Week sponsors and sponsored posts or newsletter spots, is clearly labeled “Sponsored” or “Presented by.” If a business paid us or gave us something of value for a mention, we will say so.

Affiliate links

We may sometimes link to products or services and earn a small commission if you buy through those links, at no extra cost to you. When a page or email includes affiliate links, we disclose it clearly near the link. We only link to things we think our readers will find useful.

Free products and invites

If we receive a free product, ticket or service to review or cover, we will disclose it in that piece.

Sponsors don’t control our coverage

Sponsors cannot buy scores, picks, rankings, reviews or news coverage, and they do not see or approve stories before they run. Our editorial decisions are made independently.

Protecting young athletes

No student-athletes appear in sponsor materials, and sponsor ads do not use photos of minors.
