Friday SEC availability report: Texas rules out Hollywood Smothers; Alabama's Zabien Brown, EJ Crowell and Racin Delgatty now doubtful; Kamario Taylor still questionable

The SEC's third availability reports for Saturday's games posted around 7:10 PM CT Friday, Oct. 23. Here is what changed from Thursday's list. Texas moved running back Hollywood Smothers (shoulder) from doubtful to out for Ole Miss, joining edges Colin Simmons and Richard Wesley, and also ruled out WR Kaliq Lockett and OL Jaydon Chatman (both were questionable); OL Jackson Christian was added as questionable and RB Derrek Cooper stays probable, per Inside Texas, 247Sports and The Rebel Walk. Ole Miss upgraded C Brycen Sanders to probable; LT Terez Davis stays questionable and the Rebels' eight players listed out on Thursday remain out. Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor is still questionable for Oklahoma, while RB Fluff Bothwell, LB Zakari Tillman and G DJ Chester are off the report and S Isaac Smith was downgraded to out, per On3's Colin Damms and ESPN's Pete Thamel. On3 separately reported Friday afternoon, citing sources, that Taylor is expected to play; that part is reported, not official, and the game-day report comes 90 minutes before the 2:30 PM CT kickoff. Oklahoma's OL Michael Fasusi and Heath Ozaeta and CB Eli Bowen remain questionable, WR Elijah Thomas was downgraded (listed doubtful, per Josh Callaway) and RB Xavier Robinson is now out, per Callaway and SoonerScoop's George Stoia. Alabama downgraded CB Zabien Brown, RB EJ Crowell and C Racin Delgatty from questionable to doubtful for Texas A&M and took DL Fatutoa Henry off the report; WR Ryan Coleman-Williams and DT Terrance Green remain out, per On3 (BamaOnLine) and BamaCentral. Texas A&M upgraded WR Mario Craver, DT DJ Hicks, LB Daymion Sanford and OL Trovon Baugh to probable; DE Anto Saka stays questionable, per the Bryan-College Station Eagle and Carter Karels. LSU had no changes for Auburn, and TE Trey'Dez Green is still not on the report, per The Advocate's Jon Blau. Kentucky's list is the same as Thursday apart from a reserve tight end ruled out (Sam Greene and Nic Anderson stay out), and Vanderbilt's two safeties listed probable Thursday are off the report, per A Sea Of Blue. South Carolina downgraded DB Quay'Sheed Scott from doubtful to out and RB Jawarn Howell from questionable to doubtful, and upgraded OL Carter Miller to probable; Tennessee's report is unchanged all week (six season-ending injuries), per Rocky Top Insider's copy of the SEC report. Tennessee: Josh Heupel still has not publicly named a starting quarterback, so the George MacIntyre start stays reported, not announced. The final game-day reports come 90 minutes before each kickoff Saturday. Update (Oct 24, morning): ESPN's Pete Thamel also reported Friday afternoon, citing sources, that Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor is expected to dress and attempt to play against Oklahoma, with a final decision based on how he feels in warmups. That makes two outlets (ESPN and On3) reporting he is expected to play, but Mississippi State has not announced it, so he stays officially questionable until the game-day report, due about 1 PM CT (90 minutes before the 2:30 PM CT kickoff), per the Clarion Ledger's Sam Sklar. For LSU, Lane Kiffin said on his Thursday radio show that TE Trey'Dez Green "got himself back even quicker than they thought he'd be back," per TigerRag; Green has been off all three reports for the 11 AM CT game at Auburn, whose game-day report is due about 9:30 AM CT.

Cajun take: Full disclosure, T-Rohn leans maroon, so Fluff Bothwell coming off the list smells like a good roux, and we'll wait on the game-day report for Kamario. Friday's list is the last taste before the pot hits the table, cher. Wishing every fella on these reports a good mend.

Thursday SEC availability report: Texas rules out Colin Simmons and lists Hollywood Smothers doubtful; Mississippi State's Kamario Taylor still questionable

The SEC's second availability reports for Saturday's games posted around 7:10 PM CT Thursday, Oct. 22. Here is what changed from Wednesday's list. Mississippi State had no changes: QB Kamario Taylor and RB Fluff Bothwell remain questionable for Oklahoma, per the Starkville Daily News and Sooners On SI. On3 separately reports, citing sources, that there is more optimism than a week ago that Taylor can play; that part is reported, not official. Oklahoma upgraded RB Tory Blaylock and WR Parker Livingstone to probable and downgraded RB Xavier Robinson from questionable to doubtful on the official report, per Sooners Wire's copy of the report, Sooners On SI and RotoWire (corrected Oct. 23: this item earlier said Sooners On SI listed him out); OL Michael Fasusi and Heath Ozaeta, WR Elijah Thomas and CB Eli Bowen remain questionable, per Sooners On SI and SoonerScoop. Alabama upgraded DL Fatutoa Henry to probable; CB Zabien Brown, RB EJ Crowell and C Racin Delgatty remain questionable and WR Ryan Coleman-Williams and DT Terrance Green remain out. Texas A&M's list is unchanged, with WR Mario Craver, DT DJ Hicks, DE Anto Saka, LB Daymion Sanford and OL Trovon Baugh questionable, per BamaOnLine (On3) and Tide 100.9. LSU ruled freshman DT Richard Anderson out for Auburn (he was doubtful), and TE Trey'Dez Green is still not on the report, per The Advocate's Jon Blau and On3's Glen West. Kentucky downgraded EDGE Sam Greene and WR Nic Anderson to out for Vanderbilt and took RB CJ Baxter and NT Kalen Edwards off the report; Vanderbilt ruled out LB Josiah Broxton and upgraded safeties Dontae Carter and Davin Chandler to probable, per On3 (KSR). South Carolina added RB Jawarn Howell as questionable, with OL Carter Miller still questionable and DB Quay'Sheed Scott still doubtful, per Gamecock247; Shane Beamer said Thursday Scott's injury is "not anything long-term." Tennessee: Josh Heupel still has not publicly named a starting quarterback, so the George MacIntyre start stays reported, not announced. The next update comes Friday around 7:10 PM CT, with a final game-day report 90 minutes before each kickoff.

Cajun take: Full disclosure, T-Rohn leans maroon, so "no change" on Kamario reads like the gumbo is still simmering, not burnt. Thursday's list is the second stir of the pot, cher; Friday's is the taste test. Wishing Colin Simmons and every fella on these reports a good mend.

LSU got good news for its 11 AM CT trip to Auburn: tight end Trey'Dez Green, edge Princewill Umanmielen and WR Jackson Harris are not on the report, which means they are expected to be available, per 247Sports and AL.com. LB Whit Weeks, S Dashawn Spears, WR Phillip Wright III and LB Charles Ross II stay out, and DT Richard Anderson is doubtful. Auburn lists TE Hunter Herring and OL Tai Buster out and DL Saint Farrior questionable. Oklahoma rules out LT Ryan Fodje (lower leg, from the Kentucky game) and OL Eddy Pierre-Louis; OT Michael Fasusi, CB Eli Bowen and WR Parker Livingstone are questionable, per 247Sports and Sooners On SI. Tennessee lists six players out (TE Ethan Davis, WR Joakim Dodson, LB Jaedon Harmon, DBs Edrees Farooq and Dylan Lewis, OL Wendell Moe Jr.); no quarterback is on the report, and Josh Heupel still has not publicly named a starter, so the George MacIntyre start stays reported, not announced. At Kentucky, Vanderbilt rules out EDGE Brian Allen Jr. and lists S Dontae Carter questionable; Kentucky lists RB CJ Baxter as probable and OLB Sam Greene doubtful. QB TALK · CONFIRMED (on-record quotes, reported by On3) · Oct 20, 2026 · 8:05 PM CT · Vanderbilt / Kentucky

Jared Curtis: "I need to play a little bit better." Will Stein: "He is a freak show."

Vanderbilt freshman QB Jared Curtis talked to reporters Tuesday for the first time in a few weeks, ahead of Saturday's game at Kentucky. Vanderbilt is 3-4. "I think obviously, I need to play a little bit better," Curtis said, per On3. "Obviously I'm young, it is what it is. I got to step up and be there for my teammates." Across the way, Kentucky coach Will Stein recruited Curtis hard at Oregon, and he was all praise: "He is a freak show… he is a prototype first-round type talent." Stein also compared Curtis' play style to Josh Allen, but he was careful about it: "I'm not saying he's these players, but in terms of play style, it's like a Josh Allen type of style." Curtis has 1,242 passing yards and six passing touchdowns through six games, plus two rushing scores.

GAME DAY · CONFIRMED (Tennessee athletics announcement; reported by On3, Sports Illustrated and the Chattanooga Times Free Press) · Oct 20, 2026 · 1:54 PM CT · Tennessee / Alabama

Neyland vs. Alabama: the loudest scientifically verified crowd peak in college football history, 130.3 decibels, per the University of Tennessee announcement

The sellout crowd of 101,915 at Neyland Stadium produced the loudest scientifically verified crowd peak in college football history, 130.3 decibels, per the University of Tennessee announcement on Tuesday, Oct. 20, during the Vols' 26-10 win over Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 17. The school compared it to a military jet taking off. The peak came with 3:56 left in the third quarter, right after DL Tyree Weathersby's second-down sack of Alabama QB Keelon Russell with Tennessee up 19-10; Alabama was then flagged for delay of game. Tennessee also counted 105 separate readings above 120 decibels. Per the school, the previous highest scientifically verified reading came at Penn State's 2007 game against Ohio State. Note the wording: the claim is about scientifically verified readings. Sports Illustrated points out that a 137-decibel figure was reported at Neyland against Georgia in November 2023, and other stadiums have cited higher unverified numbers. For the wider sports world, Guinness World Records lists the loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium as 142.2 dBA, set by Kansas City Chiefs fans at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 29, 2014, against New England. Tennessee (6-1) plays at South Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Brandon Spikes confirms Luke Combs' high school football story: "That was a true story"

Back in March, country star Luke Combs told the Bussin' With The Boys podcast about facing Brandon Spikes once in a high school playoff game: Combs' A.C. Reynolds team from Asheville, N.C., against Spikes' Crest High in Shelby, N.C. Combs said his coach ran straight at Spikes on the first play to "set the tone," and Spikes stopped the running back, pulled a dreadlock from under the player's helmet and wore it around his wrist like a bracelet for the rest of the game. On the podcast's latest episode, shared Oct. 20, Spikes watched the clip and said, "That was a true story," per Saturday Down South. Spikes went on to star at linebacker for Florida from 2006 to 2009, winning two national titles, before an NFL career that started with the New England Patriots.

Cajun take: Some fellas keep a game ball, cher; Spikes kept a souvenir. Luke Combs can tell that one for the rest of his life, and now the Gator legend backs him up.

Auburn dismisses LB Xavier Atkins; he says he will enter the transfer portal

Auburn has dismissed linebacker Xavier Atkins, a 2025 first-team All-SEC pick who led the league with 17 tackles for loss last season. ESPN's Pete Thamel reported it late Monday night, Oct. 19, citing sources, and On3's AuburnSports, 247Sports' Auburn247 and AL.com confirmed it through their own sources. He is no longer on Auburn's online roster, per Auburn Wire. Auburn has not put out a statement; coach Alex Golesh said Monday afternoon the program was "still working through it." Early Tuesday, Atkins posted on X that he has "nothing but respect" for Auburn, will keep supporting his teammates, is focused on his health, his family and finishing the semester, and will enter the transfer portal "at the appropriate time." He did not address the dismissal itself. Atkins, who began his career at LSU, had 37 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and an interception in four starts this season after sitting out Saturday's 27-24 win at No. 1 Georgia. Auburn hosts LSU on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11 AM CT on ABC.

Cajun take: Tough week on the Plains, cher. Best wishes to Atkins with his health, his family and his books, and Auburn now has to stir up a new linebacker rotation before LSU comes calling Saturday.

INJURY UPDATE · CONFIRMED (high-ankle sprain reported by ESPN, On3, Orangebloods and Horns247; Texas has not announced it) · Oct 19, 2026 · Texas / Ole Miss · Updated Oct 23, 7:44 PM CT

Texas edge Colin Simmons has a high-ankle sprain and is expected to miss Ole Miss, three outlets report; Sarkisian points to Wednesday's report

Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons, the nation's sacks leader with 10.5, has a high-ankle sprain from Saturday's 27-24 loss to Florida. Three outlets reported it independently on Monday, Oct. 19: On3's Pete Nakos; ESPN's Pete Thamel, citing sources, who said Simmons is expected to miss Saturday's home game against No. 7 Ole Miss and is week-to-week; and Orangebloods' Anwar Richardson. Richardson added that an MRI on Monday showed no structural damage and that Simmons is expected to miss three to four weeks. That timeline comes from one outlet, so it is REPORTED. Texas has not announced a diagnosis. At his Monday press conference, Steve Sarkisian declined to discuss Simmons and pointed to Wednesday night's SEC availability report (about 7 PM CT), per 247Sports and On3's transcript. Richardson also reported that RB Hollywood Smothers has an undisclosed injury and is questionable for Ole Miss (single outlet, REPORTED). At quarterback, Sarkisian said Arch Manning is "our starter" but that he needs to see "a better version" of him; asked about a report that KJ Lacey is getting extra first-team snaps, he said Lacey "takes first team reps every week." Texas (4-2) hosts Ole Miss on Saturday night, Oct. 24. Update (Oct 19, evening): Horns247's David Eckert, citing a source close to the situation, also reports that Simmons has a right high-ankle sprain. The source said the usual timetable for the injury is three to four weeks, though it could be shorter or longer, and that Simmons would likely be week-to-week after Ole Miss. With Orangebloods and Horns247 both reporting it, the three-to-four-week window now comes from two outlets, but Texas still has not announced a diagnosis or timeline. Freshman Richard Wesley is listed as Simmons' backup on Texas' unofficial game-day depth chart, per Horns247. Horns247 also reports that RB Hollywood Smothers did not practice Monday and was wearing a protective sling, per Burnt Orange Nation and SI's Longhorns Country. His questionable status for Ole Miss still comes from one outlet (Orangebloods), so that part stays REPORTED. The first SEC availability report of the week is due Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7:10 PM CT. Update (Oct 21, evening): The official Wednesday report lists Simmons as doubtful and Smothers as questionable for Ole Miss. Details in the availability-report item at the top of the Wire. Update (Oct 22, evening): Thursday's official report moves Simmons to out and Smothers to doubtful for Ole Miss. Details in the Thursday availability-report item at the top of the Wire. Update (Oct 23, evening): Friday's official report moves Smothers to out for Ole Miss; Simmons stays out. Details in the Friday availability-report item at the top of the Wire.

Cajun take: Losing the best pass rusher in the country the week Trinidad Chambliss comes to town is like losing your cast-iron pot the morning of the cook-off, cher. Wishing Colin a quick, full mend.

Arkansas WR Chris Marshall leaves Vanderbilt win with a leg injury; Silverfield doesn't know the extent yet

Arkansas' leading receiver, Chris Marshall, missed the second half of the Razorbacks' 31-21 win at Vanderbilt on Saturday night, Oct. 17. Trainers worked on his hamstring after Arkansas' first offensive series, and he came up hobbled again after a 28-yard catch-and-run late in the second quarter, then came out after halftime in street clothes, per the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (WholeHogSports) and the Southwest Times Record. ESPN's broadcast reported he was ruled out for the rest of the night. Coach Ryan Silverfield said after the game he did not know the extent of the injury: "Hopeful. You saw him standing on the sideline. He's a tough young man." Arkansas has not announced a diagnosis or timeline. The Boise State transfer came into the game with 42 catches for 605 yards and two touchdowns. Without him, Antonio Jordan led Arkansas with five catches for 74 yards, and the win snapped the Hogs' 14-game SEC losing streak. Arkansas is off on Saturday, Oct. 24, and plays Missouri next. Update (Oct 19, morning): 4029 News' Armando Barry reports Marshall is set to meet with doctors this week, as relayed by RotoWire. That is a single report, so it's REPORTED. Arkansas still has not announced a diagnosis or timeline, and the radio-show talk of a scheduled MRI remains unverified. The Razorbacks' next game is against Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Cajun take: The Hogs finally got that SEC monkey off their back and lost their top pass-catcher the same night. That bye week couldn't come at a better time, cher. Wishing Chris a speedy mend.

Kentucky holds out RB CJ Baxter in 21-13 win at Oklahoma; Will Stein expects him ready for Vanderbilt

No. 15 Kentucky beat Oklahoma 21-13 in Norman on Saturday night, Oct. 17, without starting running back CJ Baxter, who never touched the field after warming up, per On3, 247Sports, UK Athletics postgame notes and the Oklahoma box score. Baxter had been listed as questionable and a game-time decision on the final SEC availability report. Coach Will Stein said afterward that Baxter "warmed up well enough that, to the naked eye, you'd be like, 'Wow, he's ready to go,'" but the staff held him out so he would not re-aggravate the injury into next week. Stein said he feels "really confident" in the plan to get Baxter up to speed for next Saturday's home game against Vanderbilt (7:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM CT, SEC Network) and told Tom Leach he wanted to "protect CJ from CJ." Without Baxter, Kentucky managed 72 rushing yards; Jason Patterson led with 12 carries for 38 yards. Kentucky is 6-1 and 4-1 in the SEC, tied with Georgia for first in the league after Georgia's loss to Auburn; Oklahoma is 3-3 and 1-2.

Cajun take: Holding your best back out on the road in Norman and still getting the W? That's a coach protecting the pot for next week, cher. Wishing CJ a clean week of work.

Texas edge Colin Simmons carted off with a lower-leg injury vs Florida; Alabama CB Zabien Brown and LSU DE Princewill Umanmielen among Saturday's other injuries

Texas All-American edge rusher Colin Simmons, who came in leading the nation in sacks, was hurt in the fourth quarter of the Longhorns' 27-24 home loss to Florida on Saturday, Oct. 17. He went down while engaged with a blocker, needed help to the sideline without putting weight on the leg, and was carted to the locker room, per the Associated Press and USA Today. Coach Steve Sarkisian said afterward it "looks like a lower leg injury," that Simmons was ruled out for the rest of the day, and that he does not yet know the extent. Simmons had eight tackles, four for loss, and a sack before he left. Texas hosts No. 9 Ole Miss on Oct. 24. Sarkisian also said "everything is going to be evaluated" on his offense, and when asked whether that includes QB Arch Manning, answered "everything means everything," per AP; Texas has not announced any change. In Knoxville, Alabama CB Zabien Brown, a team captain, and freshman RB EJ Crowell left in the second quarter of the 26-10 loss to Tennessee and did not return. Kalen DeBoer said both have "lower-extremity injuries" and that the staff will work through it this week, per On3 and 247Sports. In Baton Rouge, Lane Kiffin said DE Princewill Umanmielen and WR Jackson Harris did not return in LSU's 31-0 win over Mississippi State, and that LSU's doctors held Umanmielen out, "which obviously is the right thing to do," per 247Sports' transcript; LSU gave no diagnosis or timeline (LSU's radio broadcast said he hit his head on the play). In Athens, Kirby Smart said Georgia QB Gunner Stockton's opening-drive injury was a shoulder stinger; Stockton was evaluated for head and neck injuries and came back on the same drive of the 27-24 loss to Auburn, per Dawgs Daily (SI) and ESPN. RB Nate Frazier started in his return from a rib injury and ran nine times for 19 yards. In Oxford, Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy and C Brycen Sanders came off during the 31-3 win over Missouri and both returned, per On3. Nothing here has been announced as season-ending. Update (Oct 18, morning): SI's Longhorns Country reports that OnTexasFootball later said Simmons suffered an ankle sprain; Texas has not confirmed a diagnosis, and Sarkisian said fans will hear more when he meets the media Monday, so treat the sprain detail as REPORTED. AL.com adds that Zabien Brown returned to the sideline in the second half in street clothes (jersey over clothes) and that EJ Crowell left with a brace on his left knee and did not play after halftime; DeBoer's "lower-extremity" description is unchanged. Separately, parody accounts continue to claim Simmons will sit out the rest of 2026 for NFL prep — that remains unverified noise, not news. Update (Oct 18, afternoon): The Advocate reports LSU WR Jackson Harris hurt his ankle in the third quarter (per LSU's radio broadcast) and later came back to the sideline in sweats with a walking boot on his left foot; LSU has not given a diagnosis or timeline. LSU Wire reports linebacker TJ Dottery said Umanmielen told him he was fine (relayed by reporter Jerit Roser); LSU still has not given an official update. Texas has not announced a diagnosis for Simmons as of early Sunday afternoon, so the ankle-sprain detail stays REPORTED until Sarkisian speaks Monday. Update (Oct 18, evening): On his Sunday teleconference, Lane Kiffin said of WR Jackson Harris, "I think he'll be fine," while noting he had no medical updates, per 247Sports' transcript and TigerRag; Kiffin gave no update on Umanmielen. LSU plays at Auburn on Saturday, Oct. 24. Texas still had not announced a Simmons diagnosis as of Sunday evening. Hook 'Em Headlines notes Sarkisian usually leaves in-week injury news to the SEC availability report, the first of which is due Wednesday, Oct. 21, so the ankle-sprain detail stays REPORTED. Update (Oct 19, afternoon): ESPN, On3 and Orangebloods now report Simmons has a high-ankle sprain; see the new item at the top of the Wire. At his Monday press conference, Kalen DeBoer said CB Zabien Brown has a "lower-leg injury" and Alabama is evaluating him through the week, and that RB EJ Crowell also has a lower-leg injury and is not expected to practice early in the week, per AL.com and 247Sports. 247Sports' transcript of Lane Kiffin's Monday press conference has no new word on DE Princewill Umanmielen or WR Jackson Harris; asked about TE Trey'Dez Green and LB Whit Weeks, Kiffin said, "If we have something, it'll be Wednesday." Alabama hosts Texas A&M and LSU plays at Auburn on Saturday, Oct. 24. Update (Oct 20, afternoon): LSU WR Jackson Harris said at Tuesday's player availability that he could have gone back in if the game had been closer and that "we'll be all good for this week," per 247Sports' transcript; LSU has still not given a diagnosis, and its first official word comes on Wednesday's SEC availability report. No new word on DE Princewill Umanmielen. In Athens, Kirby Smart said Tuesday that QB Gunner Stockton "has not had any concussion symptoms, so I can only go off what medical people tell me," and called the shoulder stinger something players "bounce back from" quickly, per the Athens Banner-Herald. Georgia is off this week and plays Florida in Atlanta on Oct. 31.

Cajun take: Rough day in a lot of kitchens, cher. Wishing Colin, Zabien, EJ, Princewill and Jackson a quick, full mend, because the game's better with all of them on the field. As for that Texas film room this week? Hotter than a crawfish boil in August.

Game-day reports: Mississippi State rules out Kamario Taylor and Fluff Bothwell at LSU; Florida starts Tramell Jones Jr. at Texas

Mississippi State's final SEC availability report, filed 90 minutes before the 11 AM CT kickoff in Baton Rouge, listed quarterback Kamario Taylor (foot) and running back Fluff Bothwell as out, per On3, 247Sports and TigerRag. That settles a week of questionable-then-doubtful. Redshirt freshman Parker "Billy" Puckett got the start, with senior AJ Swann also available. Left guard DJ Chester, an LSU transfer, was listed as a game-time decision, and Mississippi State's official football account said at 10:57 AM CT that he is available. For LSU, linebacker Tylen Singleton went from doubtful to out. In Austin, ESPN's Pete Thamel (9:37 AM CT) and CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz (9:40 AM CT), both citing sources, reported that Florida would start sophomore Tramell Jones Jr. at No. 7 Texas, his first career start, and Jones is the Gators' quarterback in the game. Florida's final report listed QB Aaron Philo (shoulder) and WRs Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton as game-time decisions, with RB Duke Clark out. Thamel reported at 10:45 AM CT, citing an ESPN source, that Stockton is good to go, and at 11:08 AM CT that Brown was dressed with his status still uncertain. Texas ruled out WR Kaliq Lockett and OL Jaydon Chatman. In-game (LSU): LSU defensive end Princewill Umanmielen, second in FBS with eight sacks, was hurt making a tackle in the first quarter against Mississippi State. Trainers took his helmet and walked him to the medical tent, and LSU's radio broadcast said he hit his head on the play, per The Advocate and USA Today. The Advocate reports he will not return to the game; LSU has not given an injury update. Dylan Carpenter replaced him. Other game-day reports: Tennessee made no changes to its pregame report, so QB Faizon Brandon is available; George MacIntyre is still expected to start against Alabama (2:30 PM CT, ABC), per On3, though Tennessee had not officially named a starter as of this update. Alabama listed TE Josh Ford as a game-time decision and LB Justin Hill as available, with C Racin Delgatty, WR Ryan Coleman-Williams and DL Terrance Green out. ESPN's Katie George reported Saturday (relayed by Thamel at 1:30 PM CT and On3) that Coleman-Williams had arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee, a single-outlet report Alabama has not announced. Missouri's game-day report removed its probable players, so LB Robert Woodyard Jr. and DT Sterling Webb are available at Ole Miss, and LB Jeremiah Beasley and TE Brett Norfleet are game-time decisions, per Mizzou Today (On3) and Rock M Nation. For Auburn-Georgia, Thamel reported at 9:25 AM CT, citing a source, that Georgia RB Nate Frazier (ribs) is expected to start; S KJ Bolden is out. Kentucky-Oklahoma's final report is due about 5 PM CT, and RB CJ Baxter is still questionable. Update (Oct 17, evening): LSU won 31-0. Lane Kiffin said after the game that Umanmielen did not return and that LSU's doctors held him out; LSU gave no diagnosis or timeline. Kentucky-Oklahoma's final report (about 5 PM CT) kept Baxter and DL Kalen Edwards as game-time decisions, listed TE Elijah Brown and LB Alex Afari as active, and ruled out LBs Antwan Smith and Tavion Wallace, DBs Jaden Smith and Grant Grayton and DE Tyler Thomas. Oklahoma moved OL Michael Fasusi, Eddy Pierre-Louis and Heath Ozaeta from doubtful to out, and CB Eli Bowen is out, per KSR (On3) and News 9. The game was in progress at the time of this update, and Kentucky had not said whether Baxter would play. Saturday's postgame injury news (Texas' Colin Simmons, Alabama's Zabien Brown and EJ Crowell) is in the new item at the top of the Wire. Update (Oct 18, morning): Baxter did not play. Stein held him out as a precaution after a strong warmup and said he expects Baxter ready for Vanderbilt; Kentucky won 21-13. Full write-up is the new top item on the Wire. Arkansas also finished overnight, beating Vanderbilt 31-21.

Cajun take: Full disclosure, T-Rohn leans maroon, so this one's a gut punch in the cowbell section. The official word's in: the Bulldogs are cooking in Death Valley without two of their best ingredients, and young Billy Puckett gets his shot in the loudest kitchen in the South. Friday SEC availability report: Mississippi State's Kamario Taylor and Fluff Bothwell downgraded to doubtful at LSU; Tennessee's Faizon Brandon off the report

The SEC's Friday availability reports posted around 7:10 PM CT, and the headline is in Baton Rouge: No. 16 Mississippi State downgraded quarterback Kamario Taylor (foot/turf toe) and running back Fluff Bothwell (lower body) from questionable to doubtful for Saturday's 11 AM CT game at No. 22 LSU, per the official report as relayed by ESPN and 247Sports. Shortly before the report, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported, citing sources, that Taylor is not expected to play. Taylor has been dealing with the injury since the Sept. 26 win over Missouri and was visibly hobbled against Alabama; Bothwell left the Alabama game after the first drive. If Taylor can't go, freshman Billy Puckett (the backup reps so far) and App State transfer AJ Swann are the options. LSU still lists LB Tylen Singleton as doubtful, with Whit Weeks, Charles Ross II, Phillip Wright III, Dashawn Spears and Trey'Dez Green out. Elsewhere Friday: Tennessee QB Faizon Brandon is off the report, meaning he is available against Alabama after two days as questionable, though Knox News, citing a source, still reports George MacIntyre will start. Alabama C Racin Delgatty (knee) went from doubtful to out, with Mal Waldrep in line at center, and TE Josh Ford was added as questionable. Georgia S KJ Bolden went from doubtful to out against Auburn, the first game he will miss after 34 straight. Florida QB Aaron Philo and WRs Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton are all still questionable at Texas. Missouri upgraded LB Robert Woodyard Jr. and DT Sterling Webb to probable for Ole Miss. Kentucky RB CJ Baxter is still questionable at Oklahoma, and LB Alex Afari Jr. is off the report; Oklahoma lists T Michael Fasusi and G Eddy Pierre-Louis as doubtful and CB Eli Bowen and WR Parker Livingstone as out. Each school files a final game-day update 90 minutes before kickoff (about 9:30 AM CT Saturday for Mississippi State-LSU). Update (Oct 17, morning): On3's Pete Nakos and Chris Low also reported Friday evening (6:17 PM CT), citing sources, that Taylor is expected to miss the game and that freshman Parker "Billy" Puckett is expected to make the start. That makes two outlets, ESPN and On3, reporting Taylor out. Mississippi State has not announced it, so Taylor stays officially doubtful until the game-day report, due about 9:30 AM CT. Kickoff times checked against SECSports.com and both schools' sites: Mississippi State-LSU and Florida-Texas at 11 AM CT, Alabama-Tennessee at 2:30 PM CT on ABC. Update (Oct 17, game day): The final game-day reports listed Taylor and Bothwell as out, and Florida started Tramell Jones Jr. at Texas. Details in the game-day item at the top of the Wire.

Cajun take: Full disclosure, T-Rohn leans maroon, so this one stings the cowbell section. Doubtful ain't out till the game-day list says so, but the Bulldogs might be cooking in Death Valley without their two best ingredients. Wishing Kamario and Fluff a full mend, cher. It's a long simmer of a season.

Missouri LB Robert Woodyard Jr. will play at Ole Miss, ESPN's Pete Thamel reports

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Friday, Oct. 16, citing sources, that Missouri linebacker Robert Woodyard Jr. will play Saturday at Ole Miss. Woodyard was listed as questionable on both of Missouri's SEC availability reports this week. This is a single-source report: Missouri has not announced a change, and the school's game-day update is due 90 minutes before kickoff. Woodyard has 44 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, an interception and a forced and recovered fumble through six games, and he left the Florida game twice before returning both times. Thamel also reported that defensive tackle Sterling Webb, also questionable, will be a game-time decision. No. 13 Missouri visits No. 9 Ole Miss at 2:30 PM CT on SEC Network. Missouri LB Jeremiah Beasley was listed as doubtful per On3. Update (Oct 16, 5:25 PM CT): Saturday Down South relayed Thamel's report Friday evening. It is the same single source, not an independent second report, so this stays REPORTED until Missouri's game-day availability report (due about 1 PM CT, 90 minutes before the 2:30 PM CT kickoff) or a second outlet confirms it. Webb, also questionable on Thursday's report, remains a game-time decision. Update (Oct 16, Friday SEC report, 7:10 PM CT): Missouri's official Friday report upgraded Woodyard from questionable to probable, in line with Thamel's report, and also listed Webb as probable. LB Jeremiah Beasley and TE Brett Norfleet are now questionable (both were doubtful Thursday). The final word comes on Missouri's game-day update, about 1 PM CT Saturday. Update (Oct 17, game day): Missouri's game-day report, posted about 1 PM CT, removed its probable players, so Woodyard and Webb are available. Beasley and Norfleet are game-time decisions, per Mizzou Today (On3) and Rock M Nation. Update (Oct 18, evening): Woodyard started and played 42 snaps at middle linebacker in Missouri's 31-3 loss at Ole Miss, per 247Sports. Drinkwitz did not say what the procedure is for or give a timeline: "Going to depend on how he recovers." Missouri is off next weekend (Oct. 24).

COACHING · CONFIRMED · Oct 16, 2026 · Oklahoma

Oklahoma releases Brent Venables' contract: six years, $63 million, about $51.7 million buyout

Oklahoma released Brent Venables' full contract Friday, Oct. 16, in response to a public records request, and the deal is a six-year, $63 million agreement (about $10.5 million a year) that runs through Jan. 31, 2032. His salary starts at $10 million in 2026 and rises $200,000 each year. If Oklahoma fired him without cause after this season, the buyout would be about $51.7 million. That figure drops by roughly $10 million each season through 2029, and in the final two years the guarantee is cut in half.

Cajun take: Cher, that's a golden parachute with its own parachute. The athletic department's accountants just learned how to count to 51.7 million.

Frazier (rib) dressed for the Oct. 10 win at Alabama but was held out, and he has not played since Sept. 19 at Arkansas. He is not listed on the SEC availability report this week, which means Georgia has not given him an injury designation. Backup Chauncey Bowens (Lisfranc surgery) is still out, along with WRs Isiah Canion and Thomas Blackshear, EDGE Amaris Williams and DB Tyriq Green, and S KJ Bolden was downgraded to doubtful Thursday. Dwight "Peanut" Phillips Jr. ran for 120 yards in Frazier's place at Alabama. Kickoff is Saturday at 2:30 PM CT on ESPN in Athens. Friday's SEC report posts around 7 PM CT tonight. Update (Oct 17, game day): ESPN's Pete Thamel reported at 9:25 AM CT Saturday, citing a source, that Frazier (ribs) is expected to start against Auburn. Frazier was not on Georgia's availability reports this week, but he also was not listed last week and did not play at Alabama, so this stays a single-source report until he takes the field. Bolden remains out. Update (Oct 17, evening): Frazier did start against Auburn, so the report held up. He ran nine times for 19 yards as Georgia lost 27-24, per ESPN. Bolden did not play.

Cajun take: Good to see the big fella back at the stove, cher. Wishing Nate a full mend. Auburn's run defense just found out the gumbo comes with an extra helping of andouille.

Thursday SEC availability report: Alabama C Racin Delgatty and Georgia S KJ Bolden downgraded to doubtful

The SEC's Thursday availability reports posted around 7:10 PM CT, and two starters for ranked teams slid to doubtful. Alabama center Racin Delgatty (knee), questionable on Wednesday, is now doubtful for Saturday at Tennessee; Mal Waldrep is expected to take over at center. Georgia safety KJ Bolden, questionable Wednesday with a lower-body injury, is now doubtful against Auburn, putting his streak of 34 straight games played to start his Georgia career in jeopardy. Elsewhere: Missouri TE Brett Norfleet moved to doubtful at Ole Miss; Oklahoma downgraded WR Parker Livingstone and G Eddy Pierre-Louis to doubtful against Kentucky; Kentucky RB CJ Baxter is still questionable and DL Tyler Thomas moved to out; Texas ruled out WR Kaliq Lockett. No change for Tennessee QB Faizon Brandon, Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor and RB Fluff Bothwell, or Florida QB Aaron Philo and WRs Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton (all still questionable). Friday's report posts around 7 PM CT, and each school files a game-day update 90 minutes before kickoff. Update (Oct 16, 11:25 AM CT): On3's Pete Nakos reported Friday that Kentucky RB CJ Baxter will be a game-time decision Saturday at Oklahoma, with sources telling On3 there is optimism he will play. That part is a single-outlet report; Baxter is officially still questionable. If he can't go, KSR (On3) notes Kentucky would lean on Jason Patterson and Jovantae Barnes. Kickoff is 6:30 PM CT on SEC Network. Update (Oct 16, Friday SEC report, 7:10 PM CT): Delgatty and Bolden both moved from doubtful to out. Baxter is still questionable. Missouri's Norfleet moved back up to questionable, and Oklahoma ruled out Livingstone while Pierre-Louis stays doubtful. Full Friday rundown in the item at the top of the Wire.

Cajun take: Thursday's report is just the roux, cher. Nothing's plated till the game-day list, but the No. 1 Dawgs and the Tide each just lost a pinch of seasoning. Wishing all the banged-up fellas a speedy mend. (Full disclosure: T-Rohn leans maroon, so he's refreshing the Bulldogs' line too.)

Knox News, ESPN and On3 report Tennessee will start George MacIntyre at QB against Alabama

Cartoon crawfish quarterback in orange and white checkerboard with banner: Breaking, MacIntyre to start

No. 14 Tennessee is set to start sophomore George MacIntyre at quarterback Saturday against No. 6 Alabama, his second straight start, according to reports from Knox News, ESPN (Pete Thamel) and On3 (Pete Nakos and Chris Low). ESPN and On3 cited sources Thursday morning, and Knox News has since reported the same. Tennessee had not announced a starter publicly as of this post. True freshman Faizon Brandon, who hurt his right shoulder Sept. 26 against Texas, is still listed as questionable on the SEC availability report; On3 reported he threw in practice Tuesday for the first time since the injury. MacIntyre went 18-of-29 for 247 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in his first career start, the 24-17 win at Arkansas. The availability report updates again Thursday and Friday evenings. Kickoff is Saturday at 2:30 PM CT on ABC in Knoxville. Update (Oct 15, 7:10 PM CT): Brandon is still listed as questionable on Thursday's SEC availability report, and On3 noted that Volquest's Austin Price also reported Thursday that MacIntyre is expected to start. Tennessee still has not announced a starter. Update (Oct 16, Friday SEC report, 7:10 PM CT): Brandon is off Tennessee's Friday report, meaning he is available against Alabama. Knox News, citing a source, still reports MacIntyre will start. Tennessee has not officially named a starter, so the MacIntyre part stays REPORTED. Update (Oct 17, game day): Tennessee made no changes to its pregame availability report, so Brandon is available. On3 still expects MacIntyre to make his second straight start; Tennessee had not officially named a starter as of this update (kickoff 2:30 PM CT). Update (Oct 17, evening): MacIntyre started and Tennessee beat No. 6 Alabama 26-10, so this is now CONFIRMED. Before kickoff, ESPN's Katie George said on ABC that Josh Heupel told her he was going with MacIntyre, and that Brandon was available but "not 100%" with his shoulder, per AL.com. Update (Oct 19, afternoon): Josh Heupel again declined to name a starter Monday for Saturday's game at South Carolina, even after MacIntyre's wins in his first two starts: "George has played smart and efficient… You guys will figure out as we get to game day," per 247Sports (GoVols247). Brandon came off the availability report last Friday but did not play against Alabama.

Cajun take: Heupel is keeping the same cook at the stove for the Third Saturday in October, and Bama shows up already missing its top receiver. Somebody’s lighting a cigar Saturday night either way. Wishing Faizon a speedy mend on that shoulder, cher.

Golesh: Auburn LB Xavier Atkins is not currently with the team

UPDATE (Oct. 20, 2026) — CONFIRMED: Auburn has dismissed Atkins, per ESPN, On3, Auburn247 and AL.com, and Atkins says he will enter the transfer portal "at the appropriate time." See the new item at the top of the Wire and our full story.

Auburn coach Alex Golesh said Wednesday that linebacker Xavier Atkins is not currently with the team and that he will give another update next week, according to AL.com beat writer Peter Rauterkus. Golesh announced Monday that Atkins, a 2025 All-American, would not play Saturday at No. 1 Georgia, and he has kept the reason “in-house.” Auburn has not said anything more. Atkins has 37 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks this season. Auburn at Georgia kicks off Saturday at 2:30 PM CT on ESPN. Update (Oct 19, afternoon): Atkins did not play in Auburn's 27-24 upset at No. 1 Georgia. At his Monday press conference, Golesh did not give a definitive update on whether Atkins will play against No. 18 LSU on Saturday, Oct. 24 (11 AM CT, ABC), per AL.com and the Opelika-Auburn News. Auburn still has not said why he is away from the team. The first SEC availability report of the week is due Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Cajun take: Some things stay in the family kitchen, and this one stays in Auburn’s until next week. Best to Atkins, cher. Meanwhile the Tigers still have to find a linebacker recipe for Athens.

Alabama WR Coleman-Williams and DL Green ruled out for Tennessee; Vols QB Brandon questionable

The initial SEC availability report for Saturday’s Third Saturday in October is out. No. 6 Alabama listed star wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams (head, knee) and defensive lineman Terrance Green (ankle) as out for the road game at No. 14 Tennessee. Center Racin Delgatty (knee) is questionable; if he can’t go, Mal Waldrep is expected to start. Outside linebacker Justin Hill is probable after missing three games. On the Tennessee side, quarterback Faizon Brandon is listed as questionable. If Brandon sits, redshirt freshman George MacIntyre would be next up after starting last week at Arkansas. Kickoff is Saturday at 2:30 PM CT on ABC in Knoxville. Update (Oct 15, 7:10 PM CT): Thursday's SEC availability report downgraded Delgatty to doubtful, so Mal Waldrep is in line to start at center. Coleman-Williams and Green are still out, Hill is still probable, and Tennessee's Brandon is still questionable. Update (Oct 16, Friday SEC report, 7:10 PM CT): Delgatty is now out, so Mal Waldrep is expected to start at center. TE Josh Ford was added as questionable; Coleman-Williams and Green are still out and Hill is still probable. Tennessee's Brandon is off the report. Update (Oct 17, game day): ESPN's Katie George reported Saturday that Coleman-Williams had arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee (relayed by Pete Thamel at 1:30 PM CT and by On3). He had been dealing with a meniscus injury. Alabama has not announced it or given a timeline, so this part is REPORTED. On Alabama's pregame report, Ford is a game-time decision and Hill is available. Update (Oct 17, evening): On ABC's broadcast, George added that Alabama is "not likely going to see him for the next couple of weeks," per AL.com. Alabama still has not announced a timeline, so this stays REPORTED. Alabama lost 26-10 at Tennessee and hosts Texas A&M on Oct. 24, then has a bye before LSU on Nov. 7. CB Zabien Brown and RB EJ Crowell were hurt in the game; see the new item at the top of the Wire. Update (Oct 18, afternoon): ESPN's Alex Scarborough and Katie George, citing sources, report the surgery repaired a meniscus injury and that Coleman-Williams is now considered week-to-week, per WVTM 13's write-up of the ESPN report. Alabama has not announced the surgery or a timeline, and it is still one outlet's reporting, so this stays REPORTED. Update (Oct 19, afternoon): Kalen DeBoer said Monday that Coleman-Williams and the other injured players are "kind of in the same boat" and that he would not expect them to practice all week, though Alabama will see what things look like late in the week, per 247Sports and AL.com. He called DL Terrence Green and C Racin Delgatty week-to-week and said both are progressing. DeBoer did not give a timeline for Coleman-Williams, so the surgery details stay REPORTED. Update (Oct 19, evening): The Associated Press reports that Coleman-Williams' availability for Saturday's home game against Texas A&M (2:30 PM CT, ABC) is uncertain and that DeBoer said he will be reevaluated as the week goes on: "All these guys are kind of in the same area, in the same window." AP also notes he had a concussion in the Oct. 10 loss to Georgia, and that Alabama's open week after the Aggies game would give him extra time to recover. The knee surgery is still ESPN's reporting; Alabama has not announced it, so that part stays REPORTED.

Cajun take: Bama’s walking into Neyland without its top catcher and a starting D-lineman. Tennessee might walk in without its starting QB. Third Saturday’s already spicy enough without both kitchens missing a main ingredient, cher.

Sources: Official SEC availability report via On3, Tide 100.9; Brandon status also noted by ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Thursday update: On3 (Alabama), Josh Ward (Knox News). Friday update: On3 (Alabama). Mississippi State lists QB Kamario Taylor and RB Fluff Bothwell as questionable vs LSU

The official SEC availability report for No. 16 Mississippi State at No. 22 LSU is in: quarterback Kamario Taylor (foot) and running back Fluff Bothwell are both listed as questionable. That matches what ESPN’s Pete Thamel and On3 reported earlier in the day. Taylor leads the SEC with 17 touchdown passes; Bothwell is the Bulldogs’ top back. If Taylor can’t go, Billy Puckett and AJ Swann are the depth-chart options Lebby has named. LSU listed linebacker Tylen Singleton as questionable, with Whit Weeks, Trey’Dez Green and Dashawn Spears among longer-term outs. Kickoff is Saturday at 11 AM CT on ESPN in Baton Rouge. Update (Oct 15, 7:10 PM CT): No change on Thursday's report. Taylor and Bothwell are both still questionable, per ESPN's Pete Thamel and 247Sports' Brandon Marcello. Friday's report and the Saturday game-day update (due by 9:30 AM CT) come next. Update (Oct 16, morning): Other changes on Thursday's report: Mississippi State LB Zakari Tillman moved from doubtful to out, and WR Anthony Evans III was added as probable. For LSU, LB Tylen Singleton was downgraded from questionable to doubtful; Whit Weeks, Trey'Dez Green, Dashawn Spears, Phillip Wright III and Charles Ross II are still out. Update (Oct 16, 1:00 PM CT): On3's Pete Nakos reported Friday, citing sources, that Taylor has been dealing with a turf toe injury since the end of the Missouri game, has been day-to-day and is working to play, but that sources shared "some skepticism" he will be able to go. On3 also reported he was limited in practice this week. That is a single-outlet report; Mississippi State has not changed his status, which officially remains questionable. Friday's SEC report posts around 7 PM CT, and the game-day update is due by 9:30 AM CT Saturday, about 90 minutes before the 11 AM CT kickoff. Update (Oct 16, 5:25 PM CT): Saturday Down South relayed the Nakos report Friday evening, noting Taylor is still "working to play" but that his status remains in question. That is the same single On3 source, not independent confirmation, so the item stays REPORTED. The final call on Taylor is expected to come on Mississippi State's game-day availability report. Update (Oct 16, Friday SEC report, 7:10 PM CT): Mississippi State downgraded both Taylor and Bothwell from questionable to doubtful on the official Friday report, per ESPN and 247Sports, and ESPN's Pete Thamel reported, citing sources, that Taylor is not expected to play. LSU LB Tylen Singleton is still doubtful. The game-day update is due about 9:30 AM CT Saturday. Details in the Friday report item at the top of the Wire. Update (Oct 17, morning): On3 (Nakos/Low) also reports, citing sources, that Taylor is expected to miss the game and freshman Billy Puckett is expected to start, so two outlets now report Taylor out. Officially he is still doubtful until the game-day report (about 9:30 AM CT). Update (Oct 17, game day): Mississippi State's final report listed both Taylor and Bothwell as out, and Billy Puckett started at quarterback. See the game-day item at the top of the Wire. Update (Oct 17, evening): LSU won 31-0. The Clarion Ledger reports Jeff Lebby said after the game that Taylor worked to get back but was not ready, and that he will need a good week of recovery to have a chance to play against Oklahoma on Oct. 24. That comes from one outlet, so treat the Oklahoma outlook as REPORTED; Mississippi State has not given a formal timeline for Taylor or Bothwell. Update (Oct 18): State 1878's Robbie Faulk, relayed by ClutchPoints, also quotes Lebby saying Taylor was not fully ready for LSU and that "he's not going to wake up tomorrow and be 100% healthy. We're going to have to manage it." That lines up with the Clarion Ledger, but Mississippi State has not ruled Taylor in or out for Oklahoma (Oct. 24, at home). The first SEC availability report of the week is due Wednesday, Oct. 21, so the Oklahoma outlook stays REPORTED. Update (Oct 19, afternoon): At his Monday press conference, Jeff Lebby would not commit to Taylor playing against Oklahoma: "The injury report will continue to speak to that… It's going to be day-to-day. He's got a lot of work to do, but we'll see where we end up," per the Clarion Ledger and On3. Taylor watched the LSU game from the sideline in a boot on his right foot, per the Clarion Ledger. On3's Maroon and White site describes the injury as turf toe; Mississippi State has not said what it is, so that is REPORTED. Lebby gave no update on Bothwell. The first SEC availability report for Oklahoma (Oct. 24, 2:30 PM CT, SEC Network) is due Wednesday, Oct. 21. Full disclosure: T-Rohn leans maroon.

Cajun take: Full disclosure, T-Rohn leans maroon and owns more cowbells than any grown man should. Official “questionable” beats “in flux,” but Death Valley still gets to keep lighting candles until Saturday morning. Two stars with question marks is a lotta gumbo for one Tiger defense to salivate over.

Florida confirms Philo, Brown and Stockton questionable for Texas

Wednesday’s official SEC availability report locked in what sources had previewed: Florida quarterback Aaron Philo (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Saturday at No. 7 Texas. ESPN’s Pete Thamel also noted three key Gators on the report as questionable — Philo, star wide receiver Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton. Texas defensive tackle Justus Terry is probable. If Philo can’t go, sophomore Tramell Jones Jr. would be in line for his first start. Kickoff is Saturday at 11 AM CT on ABC in Austin. Update (Oct 15): ESPN's Pete Thamel reported at 4:07 PM CT, citing sources, that Philo, Brown and Stockton will all be game-time decisions, and that Philo will travel to Austin with his status decided in pregame warmups. That part is a single-source report; Florida hasn't commented. Thursday's 7:10 PM CT SEC report showed no change for Florida (all three still questionable). Texas ruled out WR Kaliq Lockett and upgraded OL Jordan Coleman to probable. Update (Oct 16, afternoon): On3's Pete Nakos (4:33 PM CT) and 247Sports' Matt Zenitz (4:41 PM CT), both citing sources, reported that Florida is expected to start sophomore Tramell Jones Jr. at Texas, with a final decision Saturday morning. That would be his first career start. Two outlets are reporting it, but Florida has not announced a starter, so this part is REPORTED. Both quarterbacks traveled to Austin, per WCJB. Update (Oct 16, Friday SEC report, 7:10 PM CT): Philo, Brown and Stockton are all still officially questionable, and RB Duke Clark is out. Texas' DT Justus Terry and OL Jordan Coleman are still probable. Update (Oct 17, game day): ESPN's Pete Thamel and CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, both citing sources, reported Saturday morning that Jones would start, and he did, so the starter part is now CONFIRMED. Florida's final report listed Philo, Brown and Stockton as game-time decisions and Clark out; Thamel reported, citing an ESPN source, that Stockton was good to go. Details in the game-day item at the top of the Wire. Update (Oct 17, evening): In his first career start, Jones threw two touchdown passes to Lacota Dippre as Florida came back from 17-3 down to win 27-24 at No. 7 Texas, the Gators' first road win over a top-10 team since 2012, per AP. Florida has not said who will start its next game; it plays No. 1 Georgia on Oct. 31.

Cajun take: The Gators already had “guess who” at quarterback. Now the skill-room bingo card’s got three question marks on it heading into Austin. That’s not a road trip, cher — that’s a scavenger hunt.

Florida QB Aaron Philo expected to be questionable for the Texas trip

Florida quarterback Aaron Philo will be listed as questionable on Wednesday night’s initial SEC availability report with a shoulder injury he suffered late in the 38-19 loss to South Carolina, sources told ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He’s been limited in practice this week. Sophomore backup Tramell Jones Jr. would be in line to start if Philo can’t go. Star WR Vernell Brown III (knee) practiced Wednesday and has a “real shot” to play after missing the last two games, per ESPN’s source. The Gators play at No. 7 Texas Saturday at 11 AM CT on ABC.

Cajun take: Two weeks ago the Gators were No. 8 in the country. Now they’re rolling into Austin playing “guess who” at quarterback. That’s a lotta gumbo for one shoulder to carry, cher.

Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor’s status for LSU is up in the air

Kamario Taylor’s status for Saturday’s game at LSU is in flux because of a foot injury, sources told ESPN’s Pete Thamel, and CBS Sports’ John Talty confirmed it. Taylor first hurt the foot in the Sept. 26 win over Missouri, played through it, and headed to the locker room early in the fourth quarter of the 56-23 loss to Alabama. He’s been limited in practice since. Jeff Lebby said the SEC availability report on Wednesday would provide an update. Taylor leads the SEC with 17 touchdown passes. We’ll update this when the report posts.

Cajun take: Full disclosure, T-Rohn leans maroon and owns more cowbells than any grown man should. He’s rubbing every one of ’em like a lucky rabbit’s foot. Meanwhile, Death Valley’s already lighting candles hoping the Dawgs show up with the backup.

Auburn LB Xavier Atkins suspended for the Georgia game

Auburn coach Alex Golesh announced Monday that linebacker Xavier Atkins, a 2025 All-American and preseason All-SEC pick, won’t play Saturday at No. 1 Georgia. Golesh said the reason will be kept “in-house” and that the team will revisit it early next week. No injury has been reported. Atkins has 37 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and an interception this season.

Cajun take: Auburn hasn’t won in Athens since 2005, and now it’s walking in without its best linebacker. That’s like showing up to a crawfish boil with no seasoning, cher.
