Brief History

Sam Houston opened in 1961 to serve Moss Bluff, succeeding Gillis High School, with 300 students in grades 7-12.^[2]
It became a 9-12 high school in 1976 when Moss Bluff Middle opened.^[2]
A Jan. 11, 1982 fire destroyed nearly everything but the gym; students attended classes at archrival Westlake and Moss Bluff Middle until the rebuilt school reopened in February 1984.^[2]

T-Rohn’s Comedian Corner

Moss Bluff has tried to become a city a few times. It keeps deciding it's happier as 'just north of Lake Charles,' like a kid who won't move out.

After the 1982 fire, Sam Houston had class at Westlake. Imagine borrowing your rival's classrooms. That's like borrowing your ex's truck.

The yearbook is called the Stampede, which is also what the drive-thru on 171 looks like at 7:40 a.m.
