Nobody in Many says the number out loud. Down here, that’s how you jinx a thing.
So we’ll whisper it: fourteen.
That’s how many straight games Daniel Thomas has run for 90 or more yards, going back to last season, by MaxPreps’ count. His coach-entered season totals line up with it. We just couldn’t find a published box score for every game in the run.
No. 14 came Oct. 16 in a 43-22 win at Red River. According to Sabine News Now, he finished with 169 yards and two touchdowns. MaxPreps says it was his third straight game with at least two rushing scores.
Now comes the part every storyteller loves. No. 15 has to come at Winnfield.
The roux was made last year
Every good gumbo starts with a roux you don’t rush.
In 2024, Many went 0-10. Then in 2025, the Tigers jumped six wins to 6-6. KALB called it Cenla’s biggest turnaround, and Many reached the second round of the Division III Non-Select playoffs.
Thomas was the spoon stirring the pot. As a junior, he ran for 2,247 yards and 31 touchdowns, according to KALB and his MaxPreps stats.
His biggest night came against Winnfield. MaxPreps credits him with 317 yards and seven touchdowns at 12.7 yards a carry.
Seven. Somewhere in Winn Parish, the scoreboard operator still hasn’t gotten the feeling back in his fingers.
Same pot, more seasoning
The recipe didn’t change in 2026. In its preseason preview, KALB wrote that the Tigers “will rely heavily on their run game.”
Head coach Tyler Hassell told KALB, “we’re going to have a one-two punch with J.J. Stills back there. So they’re going to complement each other.”
So far, so good. Through five games, Sabine News Now had Thomas at 944 yards and nine touchdowns.
Two games later, he’s at 1,250 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns, according to the coach-entered stats on MaxPreps.
The night the scoreboard said quit
The best way to know a running back is to watch him when the game is already gone.
On Oct. 2, Leesville came to Tiger Stadium at 3-1 and led 22-0 at the half.
Thomas didn’t read the scoreboard, or he didn’t care. He broke a 56-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. In the fourth, he added a 39-yarder and ran in the two-point conversion himself.
Final: Leesville 37, Many 15. His line, per Sabine News Now: 25 carries, 196 yards, two touchdowns.
You don’t see that kind of night in the win column. You see it two weeks later.
The night it paid off
Many went to Coushatta at 1-5, still stinging from a 22-20 overtime loss at Avoyelles.
Red River scored first and led 8-0.
Then the Tigers answered. Stills scored twice. Thomas ripped off a 51-yard touchdown before halftime. Many won the third quarter 21-0, helped along by his 36-yard score.
Freshman quarterback Lucas McCarty went 3-for-4 for 61 yards and two touchdown passes, according to Sabine News Now. Load the box for Thomas, and somebody else will make you pay.
The record says 2-5. The district record says 1-0, and in November that’s the only one anybody asks about.
What’s next on the stove
There’s a 247Sports recruitment page under his name. It lists no offers, no rating and no commitment, and we haven’t confirmed it’s him.
No offers have been publicly reported. We found no On3, Rivals or Hudl profile.
One poster online called him “one of the most underrated RBs in the State.”
Here’s our take. A back stacking 90-yard games like crawfish on a Sunday platter is worth a few college coaches driving down LA 6.
Fifteen?
Friday, Oct. 23. Many at Winnfield. 7 p.m.
Last year he went for 317 and seven against these same Tigers. Same opponent, and No. 15 on the line.
Bring a lawn chair. Bring a cooler. Wear your red, white and black.
And whatever you do, don’t say the number out loud.
